OVERVIEW

We are currently seeking an Animal Control Officer that will enjoy working in a challenging, yet rewarding environment. Reporting to the Site Supervisor and Head Office, the Animal Control Officer will conduct regular kennel and community patrols within the greater Fraser Valley area,  ensuring the safety and security of the community and the enforcement of animal bylaws.

Some of your responsibilities include

  • Animal bylaw enforcement
  • Conducting regular vehicle and foot patrols of the community
  • Responding to daily calls and incidents requiring Animal Control intervention
  • Ensuring that all incidents are properly recorded
  • Compassionate retrieval of remains
  • Contacting and liaising with police personnel when necessary
  • Public education of community bylaws and animal care

Required Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Your ‘Must-Haves’

  • Minimum 2 years previous BYLAW experience with Animal Control
  • You have a valid Driver’s Licence with a clean driver’s abstract
  • You are able to clear a Criminal Background Check and have a 5-year living history in Canada (required for Government of Canada clearances)
  • You have excellent customer service skills and enjoy public speaking
  • You have a proven history of handling dogs and other varied breeds of animals
  • You are physically and mentally fit to perform all duties required, including able to lift up to 35 lbs
  • You are fluent in English (written, verbal and reading)
