OVERVIEW

The Pacific Regional Training Centre is a large RCMP member training facility in Chilliwack, BC consisting of office space, dormitories, a gymnasium, gun range unit, classroom facilities and much more. The facility consists of several buildings and is 72 acres in size. We are currently recruiting individuals to work at this site on a part-time/casual and on-call basis. There is also a strong potential for future full-time work opportunities. In this role, you will be cross-trained so that you are able to work a number of different Security-related positions  around the premise.

Responsibilities and duties include:

  • Meet and greet site visitors;
  • Respond to inquiries in line with site access protocols;
  • Participate in Site Scenario Training, on-job-training and refresher training;
  • Maintain strict confidentiality for RCMP staff members and the site;
  • Maintain a safe environment for all personnel and the public;
  • Actively seek methods and procedures that will enhance site operations;
  • Direct visitors to specific areas of the site based on the purpose of the visit and in compliance with site access protocols;
  • Closely monitor CCTV;
  • Respond to emergency situations as required;
  • Dispatch Security personnel to various locations of the site as required;
  • Liaise with all security personnel on site regarding specific activities or concerns, reviewing situations through security camera system and reporting or advising of response required;
  • Extensive interior and exterior patrols, including the use of stairs;
  • Carry out any other related duties as requested by the client or Site Supervisor.

Required Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • A valid BC security license or be able to obtain one;
  • A valid RCMP reliability clearance or be able to obtain one;
  • Be of good character, sound mind, honest, trustworthy, reliable;
  • 1 to 2 years experience within Commissionaires BC is considered an asset;
  • Hold a valid BC Drivers License;
  • Possess an OFA Level 1 Certificate;
  • Basic level computer skills with working knowledge in MS Office applications;
  • Fit and able to walk on a regular basis in order to conduct 2-hour internal and external patrols of floors and stairwells
  • Ability to climb stairs and walk long distances in all types of weather conditions

 

  • As these Sites are operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, candidates must be willing to work a variety of shifts, including night shift, weekends and Holidays;
  • Ability to conduct extensive patrols (complete building patrol approx. 2 hours in length) as required;
  • Ability to climb stairwells;
  • Some shifts require the ability to sit for more than 75% of the time;
  • Excellent English communication (oral and written) skills;
  • Proficient report writing skills;
  • Exceptional customer service skills;
  • Ability to prioritize, multi task and work under pressure in a dynamic work environment.

RCMP Clearance Process requires:

  • 10 years of verifiable employment and addresses;
  • Thorough and intense investigation of past activities, associations, financial status and overall character;
