Dan Popowich, CEO, and King Wan, a member of our Board of Governors, once again had the opportunity to meet with the Honourable Harjit Singh Sajjan, PC, OMM, MSM, CD, MP, Minister of National Defence, at the Progressive Intercultural Service Society (PICS) gala fundraising dinner on Saturday February 27, 2016. The event was organized to help raise funds to build the PICS Diversity Village, a culturally sensitive extended care home for senior citizens. With more than 800 people present in the Aria Banquet and Convention Hall, Surrey, the event garnered approximately $400,000 to help fund the project.
In addition to the Minister, the Commissionaires BC delegation met with various community and civic leaders including King Wan’s friend Roger Elmes, president of PICS.
“PICS Diversity Village is a fantastic project. As demographics are changing considerably, the need for more and more culturally sensitive services are urgently required and I am glad to support this project,” said Minister Sajjan. Other notable personalities included Provincial cabinet ministers Suzanne Anton, Peter Fassbender and Amrik Virk and her worship, Surrey Mayor Linda Hepner and many other MPs, MLAs, community leaders, sponsors, and friends of PICS.
