OVERVIEW

Commissionaires BC provides full-time security services to the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO), which is the federal lead for managing and safeguarding Canada’s fisheries, oceans and freshwater resources.

We are currently hiring a Security Officer to work inside the Radio Room. The shifts will be rotating 4 on 4 off from 00:00-12:00 or 12:00-24:00.

Some of your daily tasks include:

• Answer phone and access restricted violations databases on behalf of Fisheries Officers
• Directing a variety of calls to the appropriate person

• Record all phone calls received and generate reports based on the information received
• Answer radio and access restricted violations databases on behalf of Fisheries Officers
Perform status keeping duties for Fisheries Officers safety on Radios
• Monitor the company e-mail inbox and action accordingly
• Forward and or save emails in appropriate databases
• Generate reports as needed
• Ensure databases are continuously updated and emailed to the appropriate stakeholder
• Access CPIC computer on behalf of Fisheries Officers and disseminate appropriate information
• Maintain cleanliness of office
• Provide superior customer service to clients and general public.
• Proactively respond and resolve emergency situations and conflicts by following correct protocols and procedures
• Maintain ongoing knowledge of and perform all duties with high safety standards and liaise with Commissionaires Head Office.

Required Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Your ‘Must-Haves’

• To be successful you must have resided in Canada for the last 10 years.
• You have good command of the English language (oral and written)
• You have excellent hearing, and can respond promptly and efficiently
• You have a valid BC Security License

• Must be able to multitask as multiple radio stations and phone calls can be at once
• Excellent multi-tasking, problem solving, prioritizing and organizational abilities.
• Radio Communication experience.
• Occupational First Aid Level 1 or higher.
