Currently seeking a Full Time Security Site Supervisor to work at the Burnaby Public Library Monday-Wednesday 09:00-21:30. 

Duties include:

  • Library customers will be referred to as patrons.
  • Guards are expected to enforce the library’s rules in a firm but friendly manner whenever possible.
  • The guard’s primary post is in the lobby. A schedule for preferred times for your presence the lobby is found in the Security Staff Schedule.
  • The guard should tour the public areas in the first and second floors approximately every 90 minutes to check for any problem behaviors or other issues.
  • 1st floor Information Desk staff must be informed when you leave the foyer for breaks or to tour the 1st and 2nd floors. Leave the appropriate laminated tag indicating your whereabouts with Information Desk staff.

Required Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Valid BC Security License is required; Or willing to obtain;
  • No criminal background;
  • Fluent English written, verbal and reading skills;
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment;
  • Detail oriented – able to follow strict policies and procedures;

 

  • Excellent problem solving skills and ability to handle emergency situations in a calm and professional manner;
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills;
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in varying situations;
  • Physically fit and able to stand/walk for long periods, complete bike patrol and easily go up and down stairs;
  • Supervisory experience would be an asset
